New to view

See me in action! To launch my August programme of tours I have added the new Action page (click on the button above). There are extended clips from the excellent Trainspotting: Shot on Location. I think it’s as good as it can be considering the film Trainspotting wasn’t shot in Leith. For comparison, see their Bloody Sunday: Shot on Location in Londonderry – there they have people who remember and were involved in the real historical events. That’s not so easy in the junkie scene.
Anyway, if you’re in Edinburgh in August, come and join a tour. See The Walks page. This year the focus is on Sick Boy, as he cruises the manto in the episode In Overdrive and indulges his fantasy relationship with Sean Connery. Start at Port ‘o Leith pub and finish at the Fit o’ the Walk, as usual.

There’s more to Leith than Trainspotting

Looking ahead, I’ll be doing a general interest tour of the Shore from the Carrier’s Quarters pub on Bernard Street. This isn’t just for hard-core Leithers, it’s for everyone who knows there is more to Edinburgh than Edinburgh knows. But of course, an extract from Trainspotting’s sequel comes into it – you wouldn’t expect anything less. The pub is doing a wee package offer at the bar along with the tours. We meet at 6.30 pm on
22 August
26 September
24 October.
And we’ll be back in the pub within the hour. More details on the pub web site.
We’re bound to get one fine evening, weather-wise. Make sure you catch it!
